1. House speaker vote: Jim Jordan fails to win speakership for second straight day

For the second straight day, House lawmakers gathered to try and pick a speaker — and once again, Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, the conservative firebrand endorsed by former President Donald Trump, fell short of the number needed to secure the speaker’s gavel.

2. 4 New York Republicans vote against Jim Jordan in second ballot for House speaker

Four Republicans in New York’s congressional delegation were once again among the 20-plus GOP members to vote against Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan to be the next speaker of the House of Representatives during a second ballot Wednesday.

3. Live Updates: Israel to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza; U.S. assesses Israel 'not responsible' for hospital blast

In his remarks Wednesday in Tel Aviv, President Joe Biden said Israeli and Palestinian officials must continue pursuing a path that allows both to live safely in security and dignity and in peace. “For me, that means a two-state solution,” Biden said. The president pledged support for Israel, and announced $100 million in humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank.

4. State assistance coming for struggling families with children

A one-time assistance payment is being made available to low-income across New York families with a child under the age of 17. According to the state, more than 120,000 households will have an opportunity for the one-time payment of $100.

5. From Schoharie to feeding Citi Field, Mets' chef is a game-changer

Jason Eksterowicz, a graduate of Schoharie High School and The Culinary Institute, has changed up ballpark cuisine as senior executive chef for the New York Mets at Citi Field. The chef from the small upstate town of Schoharie knocked it out of the park this season. USA Today awarded his team with the best stadium food of any sport in the nation.  

6. Trump told to keep volume down after getting animated at New York civil fraud trial

A judge warned Donald Trump and others at his New York civil fraud trial to keep their voices down Wednesday after the former president threw up his hands in frustration and spoke aloud to his lawyers while a witness was testifying against him.

    Albany residents are being asked to remain vigilant regarding a new phone scam. According to the Albany Police Department, someone has been making calls pretending to be an Albany Police Officer. The caller tells the victim they have a warrant if they don't pay the caller.
