There has been an outbreak of COVID-19 inside a nursing home in Fort Edward. Fort Hudson Health System has confirmed this on its website and social media platforms.
According to the announcement, 39 of the 42 “S wing” residents have been exposed to the virus. All 42 residents have been tested as a result — some are asymptomatic but have come back positive, and three residents tested negative who were not showing any symptoms.
Fort Hudson says it's still waiting on more results for residents who reportedly are asymptomatic.

This is the only unit impacted by the coronavirus, but there are four others in the facility, and strict isolation precautions are being taken there.
Family members of the folks living in the “S wing” were informed of what’s being called a “fluid” situation Saturday.
We’ve seen other nursing homes in our area report positive cases — in Rensselaer County, eight people have died at Diamond Hill, a facility in Schaghticoke. There are also seven residents and two staff members of the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center who have tested positive.
In Fulton County, 23 residents at the Fulton Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare have also tested positive.
