The two people accused of being involved in a fight at Batavia Downs that led to the death of a Genesee County sheriff's sergeant have admitted their roles, according to prosecutors.

The Genesee County District Attorney's Office says Michael Elmore and Lyndsey Wilcox both accepted plea deals. Elmore pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated manslaughter and Wilcox pleaded guilty to second-degree assault.

Elmore faces up to 20 years in prison when he's sentenced in December. Wilcox is scheduled to be sentenced in January, facing no more than six months in jail plus five years of probation as part of her plea deal, prosecutors say.

Police say the two were involved in a fight with Sgt. Thomas Sanfratello when he tried escorting them out of the Batavia Downs casino in March. At some point during the scuffle, Sanfratello became unresponsive and was later pronounced dead.

Sanfratello, 54, was a 32-year law enforcement veteran.
