The Buffalo State of the City address will take place on Thursday. It marks the first time the address will come from acting Mayor Chris Scanlon.

According to the mayor's office, the speech will outline Scanlon's priorities and vision for the future of Buffalo.

Scanlon has been serving as acting mayor since longtime Mayor Byron Brown stepped down to take over as the new head of Western Regional OTB.

Scanlon will serve out Brown's term, which runs through the end of 2025, but if he wants to serve past that, he'll have to win an election in the fall.

The address begins at 5:30 p.m. It will be carried it live here on Spectrum News 1.
