Linebacker is still a big hole for the Buffalo Bills with Tremaine Edmunds signing with the Chicago Bears.
All three of Oregon linebacker Noah Sewell’s older brothers play pro football, with Penei the most notable as the seventh overall pick to the Detroit Lions just two years ago. Their path certainly is helping pave the way for Noah to learn some things, especially when it comes to toughness as the low man in the Sewell pecking order.
“It was hard being the youngest,” Sewell said. “I was always picked on. Can’t forget my sister. My sister was basically our second mother. She kind of overran the house. Being the younger brother, they kind of roughed me up. Kind of created me into who I am right now. They made me not take any bad things from anybody and just keep it pushing.”
Sewell’s style showcases that toughness.
He amassed 218 tackles in three seasons manning the middle linebacker spot for the Ducks, including 114 in 2021.
Sewell even found himself out on the edge at times, ending up with 7.5 sacks in his career as well.
His size is a bit of a throwback, while measuring in at the NFL Combine at over 6-1 and weighing 246 pounds, though that number can get closer to 260 on game days.
“They do question my weight a little bit,” Sewell said. “I am on the heavier side of the scale, but I like to steer away from those typical linebackers. I like to be unique with my weight. I can move around. I’m dynamic. I’m athletic and I think I bring a lot to the table with my weight.”
Sewell didn’t showcase that athleticism at the Combine, with most of his drill results in the lower portion of the linebacker group, though his 27 reps on the bench were second most. He’s projected as a likely Day 2 or early Day 3 pick.
