It’s all about selling yourself this time of year. SMU wide receiver Rashee Rice using this pitch with teams to explain what they’re getting beyond the football player.
“I really love football and I’m a happy person. Regardless of what’s going on, I can bring great energy and brotherhood to our family and our team,” Rice said.
Rice played four years at SMU, finishing with 233 receptions for over 3,100 yards and 25 touchdowns. Nearly have of that came this past season, with Rice earning second team All-American honors with 96 grabs for nearly 1,400 yards and ten T-Ds.
He measures in above most in a wideout class full of smaller players at 6’1” and 204 pounds, running a 4.51 40. Yet, Rice knows there are places to get better as he ascends to the next level.
“I told them that I personally could work on the top of my route a lot more. Being able to be healthy and work on my releases,” he said. “There’s always room for improvement and learning from other guys.”
Rice is among that group of receivers that’ll likely be picked sometime on Day 2.
