A big thing for the Bills is a player’s ‘why?’ Why are they playing this game? Clemson’s Bryan Bresee’s why is his sister Ella, who passed away last season at the age of 15 from brain cancer.
“It was definitely a tough situation losing her,” Bresee said. “Just seeing her battle through cancer, it was tough. But just knowing what she went through motivates me every day. The fight that she put up and how much she loved watching me play. That’s definitely something that just motivates me to continue to work and do right by her.”
Bresee showcased his talents at Clemson all across their defensive front, playing both defensive tackle and defensive end, where he racked up 9 sacks and 15 tackles for a loss over three seasons, earning All-ACC honors twice.
What makes Bresee special is how he can move at his size, posting a 4.86 40 at the Combine, fourth best among defensive tackles, with the second-best 10-yard split of anyone at the position, all while measuring in at over 6’5” and nearly 300 pounds.
“I lean on my athletic ability,” he said. “Playing out on the edge as a 300-pound guy, that definitely helps. But then also playing inside, I’m 6’5 and 300 pounds, so I’m able to play the run game inside on the interior, but also rush the passer from the outside.”
Bresee was the number one recruit in the nation coming out of high school and now is projected as a mid-to-late first-round pick.
The 2023 NFL Draft takes place Thursday, April 27 – Saturday, April 29.
