Actor Mark Ruffalo echoed his support for the local activist organization PUSH Buffalo on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday night.

Kimmel regularly makes donations on behalf of his guests, and pledged to donate to PUSH Buffalo following Ruffalo’s support.

Ruffalo’s organization The Solutions Project focuses on renewable energy, while committing its resources to elevate feminine leadership and frontline leaders of color.

He also had some kind words for the city of Buffalo and its progression as a diverse, post-industrial city.

“What they’re doing in Buffalo is just transformational,” Ruffalo said. “They’ve taken that post-industrial town full of brownfields that have been polluted by industrial pollution and created this vibrant community of community solar, community housing, low income housing, green energy and clean energy jobs, and whole food systems that they have revitalized these brownfields and are growing food there now.”

Ruffalo said PUSH Buffalo was one of the first organizations he decided to support.

“It’s one of the most exciting cities in the United States right now for their resilience,” he said. “And it’s led by this beautiful, powerful, African-American immigrant woman Rahwa Ghirmatzion.

Ruffalo also gave a shutout to the organization for its efforts in fighting police violence. He mentioned Martin Gugino, the man seen being pushed by police on camera suffering a major head injury, as a member of the organization.
