NASH COUNTY, N.C. – An inmate who escaped from the Nash County Detention Center Tuesday is back behind bars.

  • Terell Miles has been captured.
  • He escaped from the Nash County Detention Center Tuesday.
  • Five other inmates escaped from that detention center earlier this year.

According to the Nash County Sheriff’s Office, Terrell Gailand Miles was apprehended near the UNC-Nash emergency room Tuesday night.

Miles, who was serving time for armed robbery and possession of a firearm, now faces an additional charge of Escaping From a County/Municipal Jail.

If this incident sounds familiar to you, that’s because just two months ago five other inmates escaped from the Nash County Detention Center.

Miles is believed to have escaped by stuffing materials in a door lock to render it inoperable. That door apparenlty lead directly to an exercise yard where, once outside Miles, was able to push out the lower part of a fence to the perimeter passageway, where he continued to run and hop a 6 foot fence.
