RALEIGH, N.C. -- For central and eastern North Carolina, Saturday was mostly dry and very warm, but that will change this evening and tonight as showers and storms move across the area.

  • There is a chance that some storms, both on Saturday night and on Sunday, could be strong to severe
  • Our weather pattern will continue to become more unsettled through the night and into Sunday
  • With the passage of this storm system, high pressure will build back into the region by early next week

With high pressure making its way out of the area and low pressure making its way into the area, our weather pattern will continue to become more unsettled through the night and into Sunday.

There is a chance that some storms, both on Saturday night and on Sunday, could be strong to severe with damaging winds. dangerous cloud to ground lightning and locally heavy rain being the main severe weather threats.  The chances for stronger storms looks to be greater on Saturday night than on Sunday.  On Sunday, any severe weather threat looks to be strong winds with a few thunderstorms.

With the passage of this storm system, high pressure will build back into the region by early next week.  This will set the stage for a calm weather pattern into mid-week.
