Another home collapsed along the ocean in Rodanthe sometime Thursday night into Friday morning, according to the National Park Service. The beach in front of Rodanthe is temporarily closed because of hazardous debris.

It happened on Surf Side Drive. This is the seventh house to collapse in Rodanthe since May 2024, according to the National Parks Service.

Ocean overwash closed N.C. Highway 12 between the Marc Basnight Bridge and Rodanthe Friday morning, so cleanup efforts in the area are limited.

"Cape Hatteras National Seashore (Seashore) is also monitoring unoccupied threatened structures at G A Kohler Court and Sea Oats Drive," the National Park Service posted.

Rodanthe is a small community of mostly vacation homes on a thin strip of land in North Carolina's Outer Banks. Sea level rise and erosion has forced some homes to be moved away from the water while others have collapsed.
