After our round of Christmas Eve clouds and showers for central and eastern North Carolina, the weather will improve for everyone for Christmas Day.
Low pressure will move off the Carolina coast through the night and this will set the stage for clearing skies and chilly temperatures overnight.
High pressure will build across the area in the wake of the departing low pressure system, setting us up for not only those mostly clear skies tonight but mostly sunny skies on Christmas Day. Along with more sunshine, afternoon temperatures will be back to near normal levels for later December.
And after all of the cold weather we've seen in recent days and night, near normal highs will likely feel warm to all of us.
Beyond the Christmas Day forecast, the weather looks good on Thursday and Friday across North Carolina. So no travel issues are expected due to weather.
By Friday night and Saturday, the western parts of the state will see an increasing chance of scattered showers. By Saturday night and Sunday, the central and eastern pasts of North Carolina will see a chance of showers.
We are looking at overall mild temperatures across the state through that period. As a matter of fact, some spots in North Carolina will see highs in the 60s by the weekend.
