NORTH CAROLINA -- Wilmington had a high temperature of 94 Saturday afternoon, and that was good enough to tie the record high for the date. Charlotte hit 91. Fayetteville hit 95. Gastonia, Wadesboro, and Rockingham all hit 92. It was a hot Saturday!

  • The very warm weather setup continues today, with piedmont locations making a run toward the lower 90s again with coastal highs in the 80s
  • The mountains will have the chance for a few scattered showers and storms, but east of the mountains, the coverage of any shower or storm activity will be extremely limited
  • The western half of NC has a slightly better chance of a few storms Monday

The very warm weather setup continues today, with Piedmont locations making a run toward the lower 90s again and with coastal highs in the 80s.

The mountains will have the chance for a few scattered showers and storms, but east of the mountains, the coverage of any shower or storm activity will be extremely limited.

The western half of NC has a slightly better chance of a few storms Monday, but still, many areas will remain dry.

The heat backs down just a touch Tuesday and Wednesday, but then the heat and humidity really crank Thursday through next weekend. I expect highs well into the 90s east of the mountains (and outside the Outer Banks), and a few locations in the midlands of SC up into the Sandhills could clip 100.
