NORTH CAROLIN -- As we enter a couple of days of cooler temperatures, I thought now would be a good time to look at how our temperatures are shaping up so far for the month of May.
- Relative to average, it has been a warm month around the region
- The cool down on tap for Tuesday and Wednesday looks like it could wind up being an island of cooler temperatures amidst a sea of warm air

Relative to average, it has been a warm month around the region. For instance, in Charlotte through May 12, our temperatures have run 7.7 degrees above average. Hickory has also been warm with a temperature relative to average at +5.5.
Temperatures have been similarly warm along the coast. Through the 12th, Wilmington's temperature is a +4.4 for the month. New Bern has run at +5.0 so far this month, Hatteras is a +7.4, and Beaufort is a +5.8.
The cool down on tap for Tuesday and Wednesday looks like it could wind up being an island of cooler temperatures amidst a sea of warm air. Temperatures will surge well above average again later this week, and early indications are that next week will run pretty warm as well.
