Raleigh, N.C.—The 2019 Wake Forest Dance Festival kicks off this Saturday, self-proclaimed the only free, outdoor dance festival of it’s kind in the Triangle.  Attracting talent from across the state, country and world, the festival is set to show off visionaries in the field of dance.

Founding Artistic Director of the Carolina Ballet Robert Weiss will be honored during the festival.  Performances will feature works from Paul Taylor Dance Company alumni, dancers of Ailey II, and the second company of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

Spectrum News anchor Caroline Blair sat down with the festival’s founder and artistic director, Masha Dashkina Maddux, for a breakdown of the days events.
