RALEIGH, N.C. — The coronavirus pandemic is impacting nearly every part of our lives, and nonprofits are not immune. Based in North Carolina, Children’s Flight of Hope raises money each year to help transport children to and from lifesaving medical appointments free of charge. But this year, the organization is having to get creative with how it's helping to make that happen.

Thanks to many generous people in the community, 2019 was the nonprofit’s best year ever. It was able to fly more children on lifesaving missions than ever before. But when the pandemic hit, flights virtually stopped, leaving the organization to pivot and figure out how to get these families the care they need.

Now, even more children are relying on Children’s Flight of Hope and the services it provides. But it is unable to make these flights happen without sponsors and volunteers, with funds quite often raised during their annual Denim & Diamonds gala. This year, the event is going virtual, allowing people across the country to take part from home.

For the third year in a row, Spectrum News 1 anchor Caroline Blair is helping to emcee this year’s event. Check out the details below to for more on how you can get involved.
