CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Not even completely through its inaugural season, the Charlotte Football Club has decided to part ways with Head Coach Miguel Angel Ramirez.

Ramirez was informed of the decision by Sporting Director Zoran Krneta and President Joe LaBue, according to a release Tuesday. Assistant Coach Christian Lattanzio will finish out the remainder of the 2022 season as interim head coach.

"This is a difficult decision, but one we feel is best for the team at this time," said Owner David Tepper. "I want to thank Miguel and his staff for their hard work during our first season and wish them the best in their future endeavors."

Also leaving the team, Assistant Coach Mikel Antia, Head Fitness Coach Cristobal Fuentes Nieto and First Team Video Analyst Luis Piedrahita. The club says Goalkeeper Coach Andy Quy will remain on staff.

"We appreciate the contributions of Miguel and his staff to our Club, and wish them well moving forward in their careers," Krneta said. "We are excited about this opportunity for Christian. He is a very experienced coach who has made a tremendous impact on our squad this season."

Ramirez was named head coach on July 7, 2021 and finishes his tenure with a 5-8-1 record in 14 league games and also advanced to the Round of 16 in the U.S. Open Cup.

Charlotte FC will play its next game at home on June 11 at 3:00 p.m. when they take on the New York Red Bulls.
