Police issued an Amber Alert for a missing 9-year-old girl in Pembroke, North Carolina, early Wednesday morning. Police said they believed the girl 50-year-old Claude Werrell.

Officials cancelled the Amber Alert at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday

The girls was described as being a 4-foot, 10-inch tall Black girl weighing 160 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Officials describe Werrell as being a 6-foot, 5-inch tall Black man weighing 280 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

"Child is with her father, who is being sought for questioning in reference to a death investigation," the North Carolina Department of Public Safety said.

The two were believed to be in a blue 2011 Chevrolet Traverse with NC tag LBL1909.
