A firefighter was seriously injured after becoming trapped while battling a house fire in Charlotte's Ballantyne area Tuesday morning, according to officials.
The fire broke out just before 2 a.m. at a home on Ledger Court, where firefighters reported flames coming from the home's garage. Firefighters were working to extinguish the fire when one firefighter became trapped in a collapse, the Charlotte Fire Department said.
The firefighter went to Atrium hospital with severe injuries, according to officials. No others were hurt.
Charlotte Fire says it took nearly an hour and a half to control the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
