A tornado spawned by Tropical Storm Debby Wednesday damaged two homes in Sampson County, according to the National Weather Service.
No one was injured, and no one was inside a group home when the tornado struck.
The tornado snapped trees and tore the roof off of a home near Harrells, North Carolina, a rural area about 45 miles northwest of Wilmington.
The tornado happened at about 2:20 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Officials said it was spotted by law enforcement.
