A 9-year-old Durham boy was found safe Friday afternoon after officials issued an Amber Alert for him Thursday night, according to a release.

Police issued the alert just before 10:30 p.m. Thursday for Geon King-Parriett, who Durham officers say was his mother. 

Authorities said his mother is in their custody.
