All North Carolina driver's license offices, License Plate Agencies and online services for the Department of Motor Vehicles went offline Friday as part of the the global Microsoft outage, according to the DMV.

The DMV said it restored its systems by about 2 p.m. and driver's license offices reopened. 

The widespread outage disrupted services around the world, including flights, banks, media outlets and companies. 

North Carolina's Charlotte Douglas International Airport, Raleigh-Durham International Airport and other airports saw flight delays and backups Friday. Medical facilities and other businesses also reported issues from the outage.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation said DMV offices across the state were unable to assist customers due to the outage.

"NCDMV is monitoring the situation along with NCDIT and will resume service once the global outage has been repaired," NCDOT said on social media.
