Vice President Kamala Harris plans to stop in Charlotte Thursday to talk about the Biden administration's efforts on climate change and the environment. She will also open a new campaign office in the Queen City as Democrats eye flipping North Carolina in this year's General Election.

The visit will be Harris's fourth time in North Carolina this year. She joined President Joe Biden in Raleigh for a speech and a fundraising event March 26.

The Biden administration's attention on North Carolina shows its status as a potential swing state in November. Former President Donald Trump won in North Carolina in 2020 by less than 1.5%. Gov. Roy Cooper, a Democrat, won a second term in the same election by 3.5%.

Harris will talk about the administration's work combating climate change and promoting environmental justice, according to the White House. EPA Administrator Michael Regan, a North Carolina native and former secretary of the state Department of Environmental Quality, will join the VP in Raleigh, the administration said.

The VP will also be on hand to open a new office for the Biden-Harris campaign. It will be one of 10 new offices in North Carolina the campaign is opening to help Biden win in the state and support other Democrats on the ballot, according to the campaign.

The White House has not released details on where and when Harris will speak in Charlotte Thursday.

In her two trips to North Carolina last month, Harris visited Durham's Black Wall Street to talk about supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses, and in Raleigh she and Biden talked about health care and drug costs.
