A sheriff's deputy on Saturday shot and killed a person wanted on a felony warrant, according to the Davidson County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies went to the home in Linwood, a suburban area between Salisbury and Lexington, early Saturday afternoon to serve a warrant, the sheriff's office said.

Deputies said they found the wanted person armed with a gun at 334 Wilson Rd. in Linwood. A deputy shot and killed the person, the sheriff's office said.

No deputies were injured in the shooting, according to the sheriff's office. Officials did not release the name of the person killed or the deputies.

The sheriff's office said the State Bureau of Investigation will investigate the shooting, which is the standard procedure when a police officer or deputies shoots someone.
