Cantey Alexander was one of the first amateurs to tee off with Sam Burns in the Pro-Am at the Wyndham Championship.

“I'm definitely an amateur though. I'm not a great golfer. I just love being outside and being with friends and for supporting a great cause out here in with Wyndham,” Alexander said.

The Triad regional president for Truist has a love for golf that began when he was 15 and continued to grow over the years. After playing in more than six Pro-Ams, he says it’s an experience he still finds rewarding.

“It's pretty cool to be, you know, playing with a great golfer like Sam. So, you know, already after just two holes, you can see he can hit the ball really well and line up putts great. So, yeah, it's a pretty big deal to be playing with Sam Burns,” Alexander said.

The Pro-Am raises money for four charities as part of the Wyndham Championships FORE!GOOD, which is partnered with the Piedmont Triad Charitable Foundation.

“You're out here having fun, but more importantly, you're raising money throughout the week for great charities throughout the triad, Alexander said. "So, yeah, I mean, what gives? How does it get better than that.”

Alexander says this event really brings the community together.

“But now it's a true Triad event. You have Winston-Salem, High Point, Burlington, Rockingham County and Asheboro. That's what I really like about what they've done. They made it a true regional event, arguably, or maybe not arguably, the best, you know, regional event of the year.”

Wyndham Championships FORE!GOOD helps out four charities in the Triad, including the Backpack program, Tesori Family Foundation, American Junior Golf Association Liberty National Ace Grant and The First Tee Central Carolina’s.

Spanning 40 years, Truist is the longest title sponsor of the Wyndham Championship Tournament.
