BELMONT, N.C. – Five dogs were found dead in a house fire that left a firefighter injured Thursday morning in Gaston County, N.C.
Firefighters responded about 9 a.m. to the 800 block of Hickory Grove Road and Oak Street in the town of Belmont, according to a news release from Gaston County.
After battling the blaze, firefighters found all five dogs dead inside the house. One firefighter suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to a hospital.
The fire is under investigation.
Belmont is a suburban town of about 15,000 people, located west of Charlotte.
