FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — An Amber Alert issued Wednesday morning for a missing 3-year-old, Robert Parker Jr., was canceled, according to police.

Authorities sent out a news release Wednesday afternoon, stating the alert was canceled, but did not say whether the child was found safe, or whether there had been any arrests made in the case.

Officer Alexandria Pecia, public information officer for Fayetteville police, later released details, saying that the department rescinded the alert after getting additional details.

"The custodial issues occurred within the jurisdiction of Hoke County, where an active Domestic Violence Protection Order (DVPO) was also issued that lists Robert Parker as the defendant. The Fayetteville Police Department has been in contact with the Hoke County Sheriff's Office with all relevant information," authorities said in a released statement.

Police initially said the missing child was believed to be with Robert Parker Sr., who is described as a 46-year-old white male.

Fayetteville police have issued a warrant, charging Parker with kidnapping, according to a release. He currently has a charge for a domestic violence protection order violation, officials say.
