An early morning crash on Interstate 40 in Raleigh shut down all but one lane in each direction for several hours Tuesday morning.
The crash involved an overturned truck, according to the Raleigh Police Department. Police shut down most of the lanes by about 6 a.m. Tuesday, causing major backups for the morning commute.
By 9:45 a.m., all I-40 East lanes had reopened, according to the Department of Transportation.
The crash happened between Exit 293, for Interstate 440, and Exit 295 Gorman Street in southwest Raleigh, and officials say debris spilled onto the roadway.
Officials say drivers should expect residual delays in the area as traffic flow works to return to normal.
