MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. — Wrapping up the first week of spring means you’re right on time for spring cleaning. Mecklenburg County has an extensive list of items you can recycle, from cardboard to plastic bottles to glass.
County manager Dena Diorio says they’re adding to that list to help you make more room in your closet and protect the environment.
“Now we’re expanding the items that can be recycled to include shredded paper, soft- and hardback books, foam from packages, as well as textiles — clothing and old shoes,” she said.
As Earth Month kicks off next week, she says now’s the perfect time to do your part.
“We want to keep as much of the items out of the landfill as possible. This is about environmental sustainability. It is one of our board’s priorities, and this is another way we can advance the goal to try to keep our planet clean,” Diorio said.
The county’s full-service recycling centers are:
- Foxhole Recycling Center, 17131 Lancaster Highway, Charlotte
