CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Flights were briefly delayed at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport due to a plane leaking fuel.

According to the National Airspace System website, departures were delayed as crews worked.

"The aircraft returned to the field, landed safely and taxied to the gate under its own power. Portions of the airfield were closed to conduct the necessary inspections and have since reopened," officials with the airport stated.
