Nearly 15 years to the day a North Carolina woman went missing, her vehicle was found in the Mountain Creek area of Lake Norman by a fisherman using sonar.

The fisherman saw what looked like a car on his sonar device while fishing on Lake Norman Monday, and after investigating, officials said they confirmed it matched the description of a car in an ongoing missing person investigation from 2008, according to a news release from the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office.

Forty-three-year-old Tina Martin was reported missing on Feb. 13 that year, and her 1996 Ford Thunderbird was too.

Once deputies pulled the car out Wednesday, they confirmed it was a 1996 Thunderbird and said human remains were discovered inside. Those remains were then sent to the medical examiner’s office to confirm Martin’s identity, authorities said. Deputies also got in touch with Martin's next of kin.

The investigation is ongoing and work is still being done to figure out what happened the night of Martin’s disappearance.
