CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person died after a police chase in west Charlotte Tuesday morning. 

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say officers tried to stop a vehicle connected to an armed robbery. The driver refused to stop and led police on a chase.

Officers used "stop sticks" on West Boulevard and the vehicle crashed near Donald Ross Road. The crash happened shortly after 8:30 a.m. 

One person in the vehicle was pronounced dead on scene and a passenger was taken to a hospital, police say.  

No names have been released. West Boulevard was closed between Clanton Road and Donald Ross Road during the investigation. 

CMPD says the robbery the vehicle was associated with happened Monday night.
