CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Several people were injured when a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and CATS bus collided in Charlotte's Cotswold area Wednesday morning, officials say.

It happened before 8:45 a.m. on Randolph Road at Aylesford Road, closing all inbound lanes for a time.

Medic says three people were taken to the hospital, including the CATS bus driver and the CMS bus driver.

Seven students aboard the CMS bus were all uninjured, according to Charlotte Fire Department officials. The students were evaluated by Mecklenburg EMS staff and taken to school to meet up with their parents.

According to fire officials, the CATS driver experienced a medical emergency while driving and crossed into another lane, striking the CMS bus.
