RALEIGH, N.C. — A Gastonia man won millions of dollars on a $2 "Lucky for Life" lottery ticket last week.

Jimmie Shindler bought the ticket through Online Play on the lottery's website. Tickets can also be purchased at a retail location.

The drawing was Wednesday, and Shindler matched all five white balls and the yellow lucky ball. He won the top prize of $1,000 a day for life.

Shindler had the option of receiving $365,000 a year for the rest of his life, or a $5,750,000 lump sum. He chose the lump sum and took home $4.08 million after tax withholdings. The odds of winning the top "Lucky for Life" prize are 1 in 30.8 million, according to lottery officials.

Lucky for Life drawings are held every night.
