ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — A man won $1 million on a scratch-off ticket purchased at a Salisbury convenience store.
Ronald Atteberry of Spencer purchased a 50X The Cash ticket from Murphy Express on Freeland Drive. After winning, Atteberry had a choice between receiving an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000. Lottery officials say he chose the lump sum.
After tax withholdings, Atteberry took home $425,012.
The 50X The Cash game debuted in February with eight top prizes of $1 million, five of which still remain to be claimed.
