CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police in Charlotte say the suspect wounded during an exchange of gunfire with officers Sunday has died from injuries.
Kevin Boston, 45, was pronounced dead at the hospital around 4:48 p.m. on June 26, police said.
Boston, according to police, was shot and seriously wounded after an alleged armed robbery and opening fire on officers.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said it received a call Sunday before 1 p.m. about an armed robbery at a Food Lion on Tuckaseegee Road.
Police say they found a suspect, later identified as Boston, who shot multiple times at officers, striking at least one patrol car.
Officers returned fire and wounded the suspect, who was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police say a firearm was found at the scene.
No officers were injured.
The CMPD internal affairs division is conducting an investigation, and the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation is carrying out a parallel investigation, police said.
