CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Lisa Price, the wife of longtime U.S. Rep. David Price, has died, the congressman announced Thursday on social media.

Lisa Price was active in local politics, serving two Chapel Hill mayors, and was a co-founder of North Carolinians Against Gun Violence, retiring as the group’s executive director in 2007, David Price stated.

“Lisa was my life partner, supporter of everything I undertook, political and otherwise,” David Price said in his tweet. “I was immensely proud of her leadership roles.”

Lisa Price and David Price moved to Chapel Hill in 1973 after their marriage in 1968, according to the congressman's website.

A cause of death was not specified, but David Price said she had been struggling with an illness.

David Price, a Democrat, has represented North Carolina’s District 4, which includes Durham and Orange counties, since assuming office in 1997, and previously served four terms in Congress from 1987 to 1995.

Price has said he would not seek re-election in 2022.
