RALEIGH, N.C. — Governor Roy Cooper has tested positive for COVID-19, his office announced Monday.

Cooper, who is vaccinated and has received two boosters, is experiencing mild symptoms, according to the release, and has begun a treatment with the oral antiviral pill Paxlovid.

"I'm feeling fine. Thanks to vaccinations and boosters, my symptoms are very mild," Cooper said in a statement. "I'm eager to get to work this week and I'm already doing it from home through phone calls and video conferencing."

The governor has gone into isolation protocols provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and says he will continue to work from home.
