Victorian Stroble is the community relations specialist for the Greensboro Fire Department. It’s a new role that started with a focus on fire and safety education in the community, but has now grown over the past several months.

"Something that I’m trying to do is, in my role, to be the bridge between y'all and the public,” Stroble said.

The goal is to use social media to reach different demographics, giving the community a more complete understanding of what the Greensboro Fire Department is doing and how it helps with recruitment.

Strobel’s role has a strong emphasis on education, but has expanded over the last eight months of her working there, merging her first passion of photography, something she started in 2016, with her current role.

"You can see and feel an entire story within one photo. Photography is probably one of the most helpful tools I’ve been able to utilize in reaching different demographics and audiences," Stroble said.

She even shares retired firefighters' stories of what they experienced on the job. Being able to share the stories shows that her role as a community relations specialist has multiple purposes that can help in various places.

"They now realize how important it is to be an open conversation. The communication between two totally different environments, it’s crucial," Stroble said.

Stroble hopes she’s making a difference in bridging the gap between the fire department and the community.
