A winter storm brought snowfall to the North Carolina mountains, and even to parts of the Triad area, Monday morning.
Other parts of the state experienced heavy rainfall, strong wind gusts and even some wintry mix as a storm system moved through. The system was in part brought on by recent spring-like temperatures.

In the Boone area, sleet quickly turned to snowfall. Brown Mountain’s Jonas Ridge saw an accumulation of nearly 10 inches of snow, according to Burke County Emergency Medical Services.
Viewers were quick to snap photos of snowflakes falling across North Carolina, even in Raleigh, less than 48 hours after experiencing record-high temperatures.
Nearly 200,000 homes across the state lost power as the storms rolled through.
