Lamont Hamilton, a former EuroLeague basketball player, and former Seattle Seahawks player Mic’hael Brooks are both enrolled in the basic law enforcement training program at Alamance Community College.
The pair says their goal is the same — to make a difference in people's lives.
“Out here, you got a learn how to talk to people,” Brooks said. “On the football field, you just blast through people to do what you have to do.”
Hamilton has advice for other athletes looking to make a career change.
“It’s other things you can get into,” Hamilton said. “You can be a lawyer or you can be a doctor. All you gotta do is put your mind to it and focus and really want it. You know, you got to really really want it in your heart."
Both former athletes will continue training in preparation for graduation in December.
The pair are the first professional athletes the program has hosted.
