Bosco, who was principal at Myers Park High School for more than eight years, was suspended in August while district leaders investigated his handling of rape and sexual assault allegations.

"Both Mark Bosco and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools believe that after 8-plus years as principal of Myers Park, change in leadership is needed at the school," Central 2 Learning Community Superintendent Tara Lynn Sullivan wrote in an update to families.

CMS plans to choose a new leader for Myers Park soon. Interim principal Dr. Maureen Furr will remain until a principal is appointed.

"CMS already has begun the process of identifying Myers Park’s next principal," Sullivan wrote. "As part of the selection process, a principal profile will be created to identify the qualities, characteristics, and skills necessary to be the principal of your school."

Families, community members and staff will be asked for input in appointing the school’s next leader.

"We plan to move quickly to name our new principal but will be very thoughtful as we follow the process," Sullivan said.
