CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Masks will now be required indoors at Bank of America stadium.
The Carolina Panthers made the announcement Tuesday, a day after the Mecklenburg County Health Department recommended issuing another mask mandate. The move is also in accordance with the City of Charlotte's indoor mask requirements, which began Wednesday.
Face coverings will not be required outdoors at the stadium.
Guests and staff must wear masks in indoor spaces, including the concourses on the 300 and 400 levels. The team store and elevators are also considered indoor areas.
Masks will be available at stadium entrance points, guest relations and security booths.
"Many of the same protocols that were utilized in 2020 will remain," the Panthers say, "including cashless transactions, mobile ticketing, enhanced cleaning procedures and hand sanitizer stations throughout the stadium."
There are no vaccination requirements for entering the stadium.
Mecklenburg County Public Health is recommending a county wide mask mandate and a "public health rule," which would require masks indoors across the county.
County commissioners will vote on the mandate during a special meeting Wednesday. If commissioners approve the policy group's recommendation, the mandate would take 10 days to go into effect.
No additional restrictions, such as gathering or capacity limits, are being considered.
Gov. Roy Cooper's statewide mask mandate ended last month.
