CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte City Council meets Monday to vote on the city's $2.7 billion budget for the next fiscal year.

There are several items on the agenda for the meeting that starts tonight at 5 p.m.

Here's a preview:

  • No property tax increase
  • No furloughs or lay-offs for city employees and it doesn't call for any reduction in city services
  • Investing $14 million in "corridors of opportunity" to support affordable housing, neighborhood stabilization and job and economic development projects
  • Funding for Charlotte nonprofits addressing violence and the "safe Charlotte" plan
