CHARLOTTE, N.C. — If you are a senior resident of Mecklenburg County, you may be eligible to have your home disinfected for free.

Mecklenburg County Department of Socials Services announced Friday it has partnered with Bio-One to offer a one-time COVID-19 professional disinfecting service for free.

You must meet the following requirements to apply:

• Be a resident of Mecklenburg County
• Be 60 years of age or older
• Be able to leave your home for roughly one hour while services are completed

If you meet the requirements and would like to make an appointment or get more information, call 980-314-6800 or email SFA-Events@MecklenburgCountyNC.gov.

Officials say appointments will be limited, and services will be provided until funds are depleted.

“While there is no cleaning method that guarantees total elimination of the virus, Bio-One's cleaning protocol can help reduce the spread and threat of coronavirus,” the county said in a release.
