ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A North Carolina woman is exploring the intersection between mental health and social justice issues.
Brianna Baker is the creator behind the YouTube channel, "Becoming Dr. Baker." Her goal is to create conversations surrounding getting her Ph.D., mental health, and social justice issues like the Confederate monument in Graham.
"A monument like that in your face all the time is a microaggression. This means every time you see it, every time a person of color, specifically a Black person sees that monument, it hurts,” Baker says.
Baker and her friends also created the Black Mental Health Initiative that strives to develop a community for Black mental health professionals and raise awareness of the disparities in the field.
