ELLERBE, N.C. – A North Carolina program is helping to fight food apartheid.

It's all a part of the "Provide Fresh Against Hunger Program." The initiative supports Black, brown, and disenfranchised farmers and provides fresh produce to communities in need.

“It's my hope that this program can bring some joy," says Clarence Dubois, owner of Gabor Farms. "It can bring a smile to someone's face, knowing that someone else cares enough to put food on their table, with no expectation of return.”

Organizers from the program coordinate with local churches, like A.M.E. Zion Church, to collect and donate the food to families each week.
