CHARLOTTE, N.C. — New Year's Eve will have a much different feel this year. Many of the events we think of, including fireworks and large parties, are not happening because of COVID-19.

But there are still ways to celebrate from home.

Spark By Design in Charlotte organizes large events in the Charlotte-area.

Helen Edwards is the business's owner and says one option is to hold a virtual event. She recommends attendees pick up the same meals from a local restaurant, eat the food together, and pop champagne at midnight.

She also has a recommendation if people decide to hold an indoor event.

“We could still do a garage event or a socially distanced event indoors with a small group, and with that you could have a great, individually packaged meals that you could get from restaurants or caterers,” Edwards says.

If it's not raining, the event could also be outside around a fire pit with sparklers at the crack of midnight.
