Mecklenburg County Public Health issued an Abatement of Imminent Hazard Order Saturday, closing the church and all its locations, according to a news release by the organization.

The outbreak at the church was associated with events from October 4-11. As of Saturday, 102 people have tested positive for COVID-19, five have been hospitalized, and four have died after events that may have had 1,000 in attendance. It also caused a cluster of cases in a senior living community and possible cases for people in five states.

The order is used by public health services to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus.

"We have taken this action out of an abundance of caution to prevent the COVID-19 virus from further spreading in our community," Public Health Director Gibbie Harris said in the release. "This type of order is rare, but sometimes necessary. It prevents the church from opening or allowing any further gathering, making sure we stop this outbreak from going any further."

The church had planned to hold large nightly revival events from October 25-31.

The churches must also clean and disinfect all indoor surfaces.
