RALEIGH, N.C. — The news that President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have COVID-19 is leading to questions about who else in their inner circle could have it.
In North Carolina, it's a particularly concerning question.
Lara Trump, the president's daughter-in-law, was just in the Tar Heel state campaigning on her father-in-law's behalf.
She talked to a group of about 200 or so supporters at a New Hill farm.
19-year-old Andrew Zielke was among those in the crowd, but says he's not concerned.
“Lara trump was at least 25 feet from the front row of the audience. There was quite a gap," Zielke explains.
So far, there is no indication that Lara Trump has taken a COVID-19 test.
Trump 2020 Campaign Manager, Bill Stepien released the following statement Friday about upcoming campaign events and visits by the president and First Family:
“All previously announced campaign events involving the President’s participation are in the process of being moved to virtual events or are being temporarily postponed. In addition, previously announced events involving members of the First Family are also being temporarily postponed. All other campaign events will be considered on a case-by-case basis and we will make any relevant announcements in the days ahead. Vice President Mike Pence, who has tested negative for COVID-19, plans on resuming his scheduled campaign events. Any further information about the President will come from the White House.”
